Code of Conduct

The goals of our community are to:

  1. Explore concepts, ideas, and techniques in the animal training industry.

  2. Cultivate self-evaluation and raise the bar on existing standards.

  3. Provide an environment where creativity and inquiry are met with kindness in an effort to collaborate and innovate together.

To meet the collective goals of our community, it’s important that all members feel safe and supported. To help everyone have the best possible experience, we expect all members to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Members are expected to use inclusive language and adhere to preferred pronouns.

  • Members are expected to engage in discussions and debates about ideas and should be courteous in their communication, assume goodwill from the other party/parties, and offer criticism kindly and constructively.

  • Members are expected to respect the privacy of other members, what is shared here must stay here; what is learned here can leave.

  • Members are subject to a zero tolerance policy for hate speech, bullying or harassment.

    • Examples include degrading, demeaning or dehumanizing comments or implications related to race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity, etc.

    • Repeated misgendering will be considered bullying in this community.

    • These behaviors exhibited within or outside our platform will not be tolerated.

To ensure the safety of all members and their animals, members are expected to refrain from providing advice or guidance beyond that which they are qualified to provide, and to exercise caution in providing specific advice or guidance without the benefit of a full intake process.

Lastly, content contained in courses is the intellectual property of the content creator(s). Attribution is expected when referencing their material. Additionally, content developed within the community should be attributed to the community when discussing it publicly (social media tags are always welcome). We understand that it can be difficult to remember sources off the cuff in casual conversations. Our expectation is not perfection, but that credit should not be taken for others’ work.

Reporting a Member

If you experience or witness any behavior that violates this code of conduct, or is otherwise concerning, offensive or unsafe please report the member.

Members can anonymously report other members by visiting the user's profile page and clicking on the 3 dot menu in the corner of the profile card. This will bring down a menu, and one of the choices will be to report the user. You will be prompted to select a reason, and there will be a space to tell us more about what happened. If additional information is needed, we will follow up with you. The user will not be notified that you reported them, and we will not disclose your identity to users that you report.

If you are not a member and have witnessed conduct that violates these guidelines from someone who represents themselves to be a member of our community, or whom you suspect to be a member of our community, please contact us at rpluscollaborative@gmail.com to report the incident. All reports will be kept confidential.

Response to Reports of Misconduct:

Once a report has been received, we will investigate promptly and take action to protect other members of the group. In the event it is determined that a member violated these codes of conduct, we will take action to protect other members of the group. This might include:

  • An educational conversation.

  • A written warning with explicit expectations to remain in the community.

  • Removal from the community.

  • A ban, in which the member is unable to log in to the site, and access additional features exclusive to members. Refunds will/will not not be given if a member is banned.

These actions are listed in no particular order, and we will use the one(s) that we believe will best facilitate the goals of our community.
